I’ve just shelled out on new specs and having spent my hard earned cash for them am still using the old ones, there’s barely any difference.I still think it odd when asked to read the card, hence this thought.

On the left an image from a photo on a postcard from 1944 of a small street in Belgium where my father was billeted during the battle to regain Belgium in World War 2. On the right , the same street yesterday. My father was in the Welsh Guards and in the 1st Battalion Guards Armoured Division that liberated Brussels. They passed through here later. Dad is now 91 and his memories of the time are clearer than ever.
He stayed here with a Belgian family. We are looking for them…more on this later
Remember these chaps? I knew of a bus conductor who could have the change in your hand before you’d even offered him the fare and it usually consisted of enough of those copper coins to make an instant hole in the trouser pocket. Move down the bus there!
This is one that hit the editing spike recently, but I like it, so there! I heard this morning that one should only use an exclamation mark every ten thousand words, I think I’ve used up my allowance for the next few years but then cartoonists ought to get special dispensation, perhaps!
Another of my like my post ideas…it’s a slow news day for me! Battling through waist high weeds that appear to start in Australia and take some heaving to remove have left this allotmenteer done for for the day.
