I’m not one for pre grated cheese, it’s one of those things that I would ban if I had the choice, and this is not just my opinion. The respected politicians for the Monster Raving Loony Party ( for you people outside the UK, there is indeed such a political party, and Such is the key word here, as it was founded by the late Screaming Lord Sutch, and he did exist ) One of the chief aims of the Party and stated in their manifesto was a promise to ban pre grated cheese of any kind in order to … Continue reading MEGA

The Road Trip, The Reunion and an Italian speaking Uber driver.

We decided to take a trip back to our lives when we were 6 and even younger. My brother and I set off on a journey to Lancashire where we spent out early years. John’s good at driving so he was roped in to be at the wheel. He’s used to long hours at the wheel gathering antiques for his business from contacts up in the North. I only ever went on one of these buying trips once but it was an education. He had what seemed then to be a bladder the size of a garden water butt, able … Continue reading The Road Trip, The Reunion and an Italian speaking Uber driver.

“It could go either way” and other such horrors of “sportspeak”.

A surfeit of Sportage has brought in a word shortage. What with cricket, a sport that takes days and can easily end in a draw, as well as a huge amount of tennis and now women’s football there has been a massive eruption of cliches. “This can go either way” has been used tirelessly when in fact ‘it’ can go only one way, with the exception of cricket where the phrase: ” a draw might be on the cards’ may well be dropped, as often as a catch. Try explaining cricket to anyone unfamiliar with the game, and you could … Continue reading “It could go either way” and other such horrors of “sportspeak”.

Football talk in colour

Some will have already switched off, and who can blame them. There’s a huge amount of football talk around. I was reminded of the days when I used to go to football matches, after all I’m one of that generation who saw Best Charlton and Law playing in their hey day. The last match I went to was at Arsenal’s then new stadium, with my son in law Jack. Great day out a mere walk away from where he lived at the time. Seats! And a view over the goal end. Good game too. When I lived and worked in … Continue reading Football talk in colour

Footy Chair

We don’t call football soccer over here, it’s football. It must have been around 2002 that there was a World Cup tournament as I came accross this drawing when clearing stuff out. It was, I think , for a calendar. I suspect that I got the month when we were in the tournament and this is as anyone will recognise a footy chair. You can tell it’s done a while ago as the computer monitor is a little on the large size. I also borrowed a theme from an earlier project called ” Things to come” when I did a … Continue reading Footy Chair

Revolutionary in action.

It’s a sort of revolution. Before you skip to the end you need to read this handy guide to book revolution above, reblogged from an earlier blog, so like a biscuit it’s been cooked at least twice. Here’s the revolution taking place. It’s a harmless sort of protest, so when you see an unworthy book. Join the revolution.I’m sure Mr Vardy is a delightful human being. Here’s another picture from this week which speaks for itself. It takes a really good cartoon idea for a member of the public to go to the trouble of doing this, and in common … Continue reading Revolutionary in action.
