Jumbo doing the wet look.
This drawing is from when I was still doing colour and had a complete set of magic markers. Doing a big clear out of old files I came across him lurking in there. The drawing was for a crossword magazine cover, the sort of big books that people take on holiday and populate bookshops in airports or any place where people have to kill time. Jumbo Crosswords! The art director who commissioned this and others was a fine fellow who loved to commission illustration and thank goodness these guys did. Sadly the owners of the magazine told him to buy … Continue reading Jumbo doing the wet look.

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps…
I had a little walkabout today trying to get my allocated steps in as my app tells me to. “Do more!” it says every day. At this rate, I’ll be walking all day. I wandered past this chap and asked him if he’d mind me doing a small video of him for my blog. Perhaps, he said. I thought at first he was being reticent about his undoubted talents, but he was simply telling me what he intended to sing next. I thought he was more than pretty good and promised to share. His name is Yeuey Qing, look out for … Continue reading Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps…
He’s probably got a shed
My uncle had a shed. Not just any shed, it was more of a workshop. In it was a lathe and other metalworking equipment. He looked nothing like this. He was a doctor and I’m told he delivered me! For relaxation, he built engines, steam engines. Small replicas of train locomotives that ran on narrow gauge railways. I suspect he was never happier than when he was making his engines. Invent your own copy of this by going to Red Bubble Continue reading He’s probably got a shed
Frans Hals updated haircut
This drawing reminds me of my chum Graham, who was my original business partner back in the days when all the drawing was done on paper. Graham still does all his drawing on paper and is a bit of an expert on coloured pencils, take a look at his stuff, it’s worth the trip. Man with coloured pencil Naturally he looks nothing like this but that irepressible cheerfulness that this chap seems to have is perhaps what I am remembering.Graham’s hair has changed since those early days, but at least he has some, mine is just about hanging on. When I … Continue reading Frans Hals updated haircut
Pencil tash
I used to work for a chap who looked a little like this. Head Warehouseman at a transport company. He hated students and told me so frequently. I was not desperately keen on him. He got his way in the end as I was asked to leave. I can’t imagine anyone wanting this mug on a mug, or anything for that matter. But if you insist: Mugs and stuff Continue reading Pencil tash

Road Movie…
Yesterday it mainly rained. Out and about with my chum and songster Robin, he tells me that this song was a recent discovery, but that he is only aware of two verses. So if you happen to know any more then please let us know. The setting for this song is the church at Frampton on Severn, and from here we walked out to the River. It’s well worth a visit if you are in the area. In our case, the undergrowth was so wet that trousers became wet and as they acted like blotting paper. A stop at Gloucester Services on … Continue reading Road Movie…

Ex-public schoolboys go on to be explorers. Is this a fact? I don’t know, but I bet most of the well-known explorers did go to a very good school. They qualify in beard growing at a very early age. Get an explorer on a flag! Put it up at the North Pole ( or the South, I’m not fussy ) and send me the picture. Here’s where to find the flag : Explore this site: Red Bubble Continue reading Why do they do it? There’s a link here to the last post.
