This drawing is from when I was still doing colour and had a complete set of magic markers. Doing a big clear out of old files I came across him lurking in there. The drawing was for a crossword magazine cover, the sort of big books that people take on holiday and populate bookshops in airports or any place where people have to kill time. Jumbo Crosswords!

The art director who commissioned this and others was a fine fellow who loved to commission illustration and thank goodness these guys did. Sadly the owners of the magazine told him to buy stock stuff in the end, so there you have it, jumbo nears extinction.
