Too cool
Customer Service. It seems to be a theme for the week. After I’d done this drawing it reminded me of the waiter at a local restaurant where I took a couple of friends recently who helped me with my exhibition earlier in the year. This is what it was all about It was one of those fake French places where they serve you Shepherds Pie and call it Parmentier to give you the impression that the French might eat it. Perhaps we should call them French Impressionists. Zey all speek wiz ze sleight Franch accaun, but are probably from Wolverhampton. … Continue reading Too cool
I’d like to plant this idea please.
Cheltenham Borough Council have caused a bit of a “who-ha” by suggesting that they abandon their current very expensive method of planting some of their flower beds with bedding plants each season and using a more sustainable and economic way of planting. They have explained it as below, but I fear they are fighting the boring old fuddy-duddies who won’t change anything, least of all their dreadfully wasteful way of planting and then watering these blooming things. The Fuddies have got up a petition to keep it as it is,. I’ve signed for change to the new way of doing things … Continue reading I’d like to plant this idea please.
Grumbler
I suppose I could be called this after my week with BT trying to fathom out why they have been charging me a different amount to what they said they would. There I was with a printed sheet telling me what to expect and then the bloke on the phone telling me to refer to an email that said something quite different. I offered to email him a copy of the printed sheet, but he said that would not be necessary as the amount quoted on the email was the correct figure. I suspect that my expression resembled this one, … Continue reading Grumbler
A reminder of Summer…
A quick rendition of The Willow Tree, short version, by my chum Robin. Done in the approach to Summer. Something to cheer you up on a wintery day, and a change from Haircuts. Continue reading A reminder of Summer…
The madness that is BT
It’s enough to make you want to tear your hair out, if you had any. An hour on the phone trying to get BT to sort out my on-line account very nearly drove me to a straightjacket. I’ll spare you the details but by the end I was nearly ready for that nurse to take me away. Is there anything else I can help you with? Continue reading The madness that is BT

It’s all in the name.
Here’s a change from the haircuts, which will return tomorrow! A great name for painters and decorators, but would the idea wear a little thin after a while. Continue reading It’s all in the name.
Is there anything nesting in there?
Jumbo doing the wet look.
This drawing is from when I was still doing colour and had a complete set of magic markers. Doing a big clear out of old files I came across him lurking in there. The drawing was for a crossword magazine cover, the sort of big books that people take on holiday and populate bookshops in airports or any place where people have to kill time. Jumbo Crosswords! The art director who commissioned this and others was a fine fellow who loved to commission illustration and thank goodness these guys did. Sadly the owners of the magazine told him to buy … Continue reading Jumbo doing the wet look.
A curtain you might not care to open.
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps…
I had a little walkabout today trying to get my allocated steps in as my app tells me to. “Do more!” it says every day. At this rate, I’ll be walking all day. I wandered past this chap and asked him if he’d mind me doing a small video of him for my blog. Perhaps, he said. I thought at first he was being reticent about his undoubted talents, but he was simply telling me what he intended to sing next. I thought he was more than pretty good and promised to share. His name is Yeuey Qing, look out for … Continue reading Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps…
