The Battle for the Chair

This is one of the smaller drawings for my forthcoming exhibition about the British Character, the original will be for sale at the show. Despite having a dog some years ago, I’m not the biggest fan of them, but they make great subjects for drawing and the British do have a bit of an obsession with them. Cats too!

Battle for the chair

  1. The battle for the chair….. immediately I had an image in my mind of a number of academic surgeons all vying to be prof. There’s a whole series of cartoons there! !

  2. Another evocative drawing! That’s my Nanna’s chair, in which she’d smoke, and we’d watch whatever the Beeb threw at us. Her dog Fred was an elderly terrier with unsettling milky white eyes. He’d bark a lot and she’d shut him in the WC which would amplify his barks!

  3. Hi Paul! I wanted to follow up on the message you left on Instagram regarding the shirts. Did you want me to go ahead and send you one? It would probably cost about $20-$25 with shipping. Is that okay? Let me know, thanks!

    • I’d love one please. Large size might be best. Hopefully you do paypal and then I can send the payment to you.Let me know total when you have it and i’ll send address details via facebook, is that best? Thanks

      • Yes, that would be great and thank you so much! Sorry, I’m not on WordPress much so Facebook, email or Instagram are probably the best ways to contact me. Total would be $25 USD and you can send the payment through Paypal. The email address is marissabergen602@gmail.com which is also my personal email if you want to contact me with address, etc. Facebook or Instagram works too. Thanks again for your support!
