Four word story

“Miriam?

Left.

Accounts…

Police”

This was the response to my question to one of my clients enquiring of the whereabouts of the friendly Miriam who’d I’d had some dealings with over the years I’d worked at the print company. If you are to re-enact this small four worded drama it requires some dexterity and timing. The actors in the drama, me and the gentleman who I was asking the question and his four worded response you need to know that the response has some very pregnant pauses between each of the four words and is delivered in a world weariness that suggests something painful to him, a big sigh after accounts and an expression of some feelings of ‘how could it have come to this?’.

Unspoken of course, or it would not be a four word story.

And there’s no sequel, it hangs in the air and leaves it to your own imagination of what might have gone on here.

It begs no answer, Rather it deems that no answer or further enquiry as to the fate of Miriam should be offered. The end is the end, and that’s the end.

  1. You’re absolutely right.
Now I’m wondering what in deed may have happened to Miriam?
Thanks again, it at least takes my mind off Mr. Trump, who we’re fairly convinced is going to do his very best to ruin our next few nights of sleep, as we toss and turn, wondering what revenge he’ll bestow on us, and also Europe and Mexico.
I’m sure eventually he’ll burn him self out, ???

    1. I suspect Miriam may well have gone to Spain on monies that might not have been hers to spend, thus making her a person of interest to the constabulary. If charges were brought then she may well have been given probation and a community order obliging her to help clean up some litter somewhere under supervision. She will have booked her next trip to The Costas for next year with what she has left after buying a wide screen TV and the smart sports car that sits outside the unremarkable flats where she lives with her two cats. Or is my imagination running riot?
Trump is a disaster for all of us, and what I can’t quite get used to is some of our labour politicians saying they were wrong to call him dangerous and a threat to everyone. It’s all a bit unreal!
