Big Daubs.

This is the hollow tree at Deerhurst down by the River Severn. Started painting it after a trip there with fellow Dalai Lama Painting Club group, a unique gathering of three people who wander about the Gloucestershire countryside contemplating what to draw or paint next. In this case, I chose not to draw or paint the river, but this tree against a busy sky was my best option. At A2, this is about as large as my paintings get, and they are not done on site; I do them from drawings or photographs.

The second is a landscape that has to be one of my favourite spots in Gloucestershire, and to keep it that way I have no intention of telling you where it is, suffice to say that the Dalai Lama once watched a cricket match near here. Tenuous link? Yes, and why not?

This too is A2.

Are they finished?

I think not; they are in the middle stage of evolution, methinks, which means that I have plenty of time to foul them up.

  1. Bold strokes resulting in bold images, Mr Davies. Both showing great promise. Hope we can see the finished paintings.

      1. At least you are doing something which is more than can be said for me. I haven’t touched a pencil for months. I can never seem to find the time to sit down for a day and get on with something creative. Or am I just a lazy sod!? Big hugs.

      2. I’d recommend splashing about a bit of colour paint to get you going again, am aslo going out with a couple of friends on drawing forays locally, that gets one going too. I’ll come down there and we will do it ourselves sometime! Plenty of great material

  3. The second one is Crickley Hill- I claim my £5 prize and a season ticket for all matches played there.Sent from my iPhoneOn 28 Jul 2026,
