…but ask him how to fix a door knob and he’s your man.

I’m a big fan of YouTube short videos on how to fix stuff, and there’s always stuff to fix.

Imagine this blog spoken in the same style as Tom Hanks’s in Forest Gump, and you might see the bigger picture. Speaking of pictures, he can fix them too. How to hang them, that is. In fact, he can fix most things around the house.

He’s a guy from ‘Down the Deep South somewhere about’, who tells folks how to fix stuff. He’s not a natural performer, but he has a slow, carefully scripted manner of performing, given an extra edge by a slightly off-putting stare and a permanently fixed baseball cap.

I suspect that he was not the brightest light in the street when it came to schoolin, but he spent a lot of time fixing up old cars, doorknobs, those pesky soft-close lavatory seats back on the homestead. In fact, any old thing that went wrong. He worked a bit as ‘the bloke who stood by as someone else fiddled with an engine’, fixing cars. Back in those days, when they had stuff you could faff with and no computers.

Someone said to him one day, “Hey Clint, you should go on that there YOOTOOB, your’e real good at all these fiddly fixing things “. Clint shuffled his feet and looked a tad bashful; he responded, “Don’t know nothing about that” and went back to fiddling with an old carburettor mechanism for an Old Oldsmobile Sedan.

He got pretty good with computers and knew the internet well, seeing stuff now and again that opened his eyes even wider than they were normally.

So he signed up for YOOTOOB and got himself a channel.

He helped me fix a doorknob just last week. Before that, he helped out with a soft-close lavatory seat. He don’t get nothing wrong.

He’s probably doing ok for himself.
